Bikini Top and Brief Buying Guide

Getting the perfect bikini is not easy.  There are lots of different designs on the market and it can take a bit of research before you find the right option.  Here are some buying tips to help you get started.

The Perfect Fit

Swimwear sizing can sometimes feel a bit hit and miss.  Manufacturers can have slightly different sizing guidelines which can range from dress sizes (8 through to 22+) through to shirt sizes (XS through to XXL).  The shape of the bikini cut can also affect fit. This is why it is important to do a little research before you start shopping.  Here are a few sizing tips for buyers:

-Make sure you visit a sports shop or clothing store and try on a few different styles of bikini.  This will give you a better idea of your sizing needs.  For example if you have a larger bust you may need the top half of the bikini in one or two sizes bigger than the bottoms.

-When you try bikinis on make sure you do a few stretches and try sitting down.  This will help to make sure the bikini is big enough and everything stays covered up.

-Never buy swimwear that is too small.  This creates unsightly bulges that can make even the slimmest and toned bodies look bad.  If the waist bands and leg openings are too small this can be very uncomfortable and cause painful rubbing.

-Also avoid buying swimwear that is too big.  It could bag and look unattractive and could also slip down whilst you are in the water.

-Make sure you have the right size bikini straps.  If they are too long they will not be able to provide you with the right support in your bust area.  If they are too short they will dig into your shoulders and armpits and cause rubbing.

-Some underwired bikini tops will be listed in bra cup sizes.  This makes it easier for you to choose the right size.

Coverage

Not all bikinis are skimpy. Some provide good coverage with higher bust lines and lower leg cuts.  These offer some good choices if you like to get active at the beach.  Most of the sporty bikinis offer a little more coverage to make sure you can move about freely without worrying about flashing a bit too much skin.  Sporty bikinis are also more robust and use higher performance materials ideal for swimming, surfing, water skiing and more.
